Towson University is pleased to offer a Master of Education (M.Ed.) in Special Education at the Universities at Shady Grove (USG). The Towson University/MCPS Higher Education Partnership M.Ed. program is designed for Montgomery County Public Schools (MCPS) MSDE-licensed professionals, including general education, special education, ELD, art, music, physical education, world languages, and other specialists. Students are admitted each fall as part of a cohort model, with courses meeting once a week in 8-week hybrid sessions that allow students to take two classes each semester while focusing on one course at a time.

Students may apply for one of three tracks: Special Education–Early Childhood Education (birth–grade 3), Special Education–Elementary/Middle Education (grades 1–8), or Special Education–Secondary Education (grades 9–12). The M.Ed. program follows a specific course sequence and timeframe for completion. Through the Towson Learning Network, the College of Education continues its long-standing collaboration with Maryland public school systems to support the professional growth of in-service educators.
